There is a total of 3,468 square miles inside the park's limits (8,983 sq km). It's the GANP's Global Ambassador Park.

Yellowstone was not the first protected place, but it is the first national park in the world and the first in the United States. Canyons, geothermal features, lakes, mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and a variety of wildlife have made this park famous.
Lake Yellowstone is the largest in Yellowstone National Park, covering an area of 136 square miles (350 square kilometres) and stretching to a depth of 394 feet (120 m). One of the greatest high-elevation lakes on the continent, it is situated at an altitude of 7,732 feet (2,357 m).
Like the Yellowstone Caldera, which is the greatest supervolcano on the continent at 34 by 45 miles (55 by 72 km) in size. It's an active volcano that's still erupting. At 11,358 feet, Eagle Peak is the park's highest point (3,462 m).
Half of all geysers and hydrothermal features in the globe may be found in this park, making them a major draw.

Famous geyser Old Faithful erupts every 44 to 125 minutes; Steamboat Geyser is the largest active geyser in the world. Within the park's limits, you'll find approximately 10,000 thermal features.
The tallest of the 290 waterfalls with a drop of at least 15 feet (4.6 m) is Lower Falls on the Yellowstone River, which plunges 308 feet (91 m) (94 m).

It is the largest of three canyons in the Yellowstone region, which also includes Lewis Canyon and Black Canyon.
Larger mammals include the grizzly and black bears, bison herds, elk, timber wolves, coyotes, bighorn sheep, moose, mountain goats, mule deer, white-tailed deer, and pronghorn.
