Dish Info
A flat, fermented cake made from Odia rice that has been a staple in Odisha for millennia is called chakuli pitha. It is prepared and served at festivities. The meal is made with rice flour, black gramme, refined edible oil (preferably ghee or mustard oil), and salt.
Preparation
Combine rice flour, black gramme, salt, and warm water to make the batter. The batter is covered and let to ferment for a number of hours. The mixture is then poured into a skillet to create circular flat cakes.
PREPARATION
As a side dish, chakuli pitha goes well with ghuguni, sambhar, sugar, jaggery, tea, milk, vegetables, and meat.
Pre-Preparation
There are numerous tastes of chakuli pitha. Dosa's thinner counterpart, Saru Chakuli, is a perfect replica of it.
A thicker variation of the dish, Burha Chakuli, is made with grated coconut, paneer, and jaggery.
